Commissioner Nikki Fried of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services recently appointed Josephine as a member of the Florida Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee.
This group of industry experts, advocates, advisors, and consumers is formed to help give input, guidance, and insight on moving the medical cannabis program forward as voted on by the constituents of Florida.

Josephine graduated with a degree in Psychology from S.U.N.Y. StonyBrook in 1988 and went on to earn her Master of Social Work degree from Florida State University in 1990. She has been Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in Florida for over 25 years.
Josephine has done extensive work with Elder Care Communities, coordinating care for Elders, conducting biopsychosocial assessments, providing psycho-therapy and supportive services, as well as being an outspoken Advocate for the Rights of Florida’s Elder population, ensuring their decision making authority is prioritized and honored.

Research indicates that social isolation and loneliness are linked with increased feelings of sadness, hopelessness and agitation. A variety of expected and unexpected life changes, like the death of a loved one or a change in living environment, can leave our Elders struggling with issues related to grief and loss.
Josephine expertly assesses her clients needs by conducting intake/diagnostic evaluations and providing clinically sound treatment services, remaining ever mindful of evolving and ongoing client needs.
She is passionate about providing supportive services to Elders, alleviating emotional distress, promoting social engagement and decreasing depression and anxiety in the clients she serves.
Based on her extensive experience in compassionate care and outstanding psycho-educational skills, she illuminates the path towards an increased quality of life and overall well being.

Medical Cannabis Specialist (Via Teleconference or In-Person)
Josephine has played a crucial role in the development, implementation and subsequent expansion of Florida’s Medical Cannabis Program.
Now that Florida’s program is operational, she educates Healthcare Professionals on the benefits of cannabis as a therapeutic agent, provides guidance to authorized Medical Cannabis Physicians, assists in navigating patients and families through the Medical Cannabis process and facilitates individualized education/support sessions to both potential and currently registered medical cannabis patients.
She is a compassionate, highly knowledgeable licensed clinical social worker, medical cannabis advocate and educator who has been active both legislatively and in Florida’s clinical setting. Based on her long experience in compassionate Elder care and outstanding educational skills, she illuminates the path towards health and well-being.
