IMG_2745Our thanks to those who participated in Tim Johnson’s presentation at Alderman Oaks this past Wednesday, May 31, 2017.  Our audience included interested community leaders from all walks of life, including Sarasota Mayor Shelli Freeland Eddie.

What an outstanding overview of a major outreach event that could impact the homeless, veterans, and underprivileged in our communities.  And, the feedback was so positive with comments such as “count me all in!”

Our thanks also to the team at ABC 7 who have been so involved and supportive in communicating the details of this important gathering.

Our next steps will include establishing an Advisory Task Force to consider the vision and details for an outreach event of this kind in our area (more soon to come).

In the meantime, please view the news releases by ABC 7.

download (1)For over a decade, SCOPE has been holding community engagement workshops throughout Sarasota County with a focus on local data. Using data as a catalyst for conversation allows us to have a strong foundation for communication about important community issues and how we may be able to make a difference.

This year, our focus is sustainability. Sustainability includes environmental, economic and social well-being. We will be showing data about Sarasota’s land, water, air, species, and built environment. We will also be providing resources for the community to get involved with current sustainability initiatives and educational opportunities.
